Good news, bad news
A little bit of anxiety entered the equation last night when one of our docs in FW phoned to inform us that Paul's blood culture had come back positive (it takes 72 hours sometimes to get these). Since the same bug was there last week, and then gone at discharge (Friday), her thought was that it might be in his port. She mentioned getting a new port. Well...you can imagine how the news settled. First, his port was just replaced less than 4 months ago because of this; second, this could mess up his starting chemo on Monday which means he is off the VT study (you get a 2-week cushion to get off sched.). That's the bad news. The good news...first, Paul is feeling great. In fact, he went to church last night and school today. As long as no fever comes, and he doesn't "get sick" we should be good to go on Monday since his counts are all good and rising. The plan for now is to collect another blood culture today locally. If this is a persistent bug then we'll have to do something with the port at some point. As usual we trust you all to pray for these things. For now, it brings us great joy to see Paul get to go to school, watch him get after his food, play, and returning to good ol' Paul.

I am praying and believing that God will heal Paul so that he can maintain his schedule for next week. God bless you all and give you your daily bread and then some!!! Keep on keeping on!
We DO love our good 'ole Paul!! Hope he has a great time at school today.
We will pray for the timing of the VT study to work out.
So glad Paul got to enjoy school and see his friends again!
We'll be praying that he stays well and for things to work as they should with the VT treatments...and, as always, for a completely healthy Paul!
