The Saxonfones
Jack turns 11 (yikes!) next week and will have about 8 friends over for a sleep-over. So, we thought we would go ahead and give him his present this weekend. Rock Band. Yes, he (we) has/have graduated from Guitar Hero to the full band version. If you have seen this...it comes with drums, guitars and a mic. It becomes a family affair. We now have a rock band in the house, and based on a quick talent scan that is probably where it will remain. So...into the night we rocked. No one called the police.
Halloween was a fun night for us, but as usual we really missed Paul. At some point a kid passed me on the street decked out in the same Jeff Gordon outfit Paul wore a couple of years ago. The kid even looked bald. It's hard to see that sort of thing and not miss Paul tremendously. One highlight of the night was visiting a house around the block that had really gone overboard on the Halloween thing. The owner had spent a ton of money on things like severed heads, arms, legs, kettles of boiling bones and brains. There was also a torso scooting around the driveway and various body parts emerging from the lawn. She even had a really scary McCain/Palin sign in the yard.
Last weekend me and my buddy Darrell went to the NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway. We spent the entire weekend there and had a great time. There is absolutely nothing that brings back more great memories of Paul than being out there. Jeff Gordon came in second. Paul would not have approved. (-:
Jack is excited about his cancer research funding effort. Selling his and Paul's art has already raised some money. Check his site and get yourself some sweet art (for a good cause, too).
