Mixed Bag

We had a great time seeing some college friends this weekend who were in town for the BU Homecoming (Go Bears!) and going to the parade. Baylor finally won a Homecoming game after 9 years; the only bad news is that it came against my second favorite team - KU's Jayhawks who gave up an 18 point lead with 10 mins. left in the game.

Paul has had a mixed bag this weekend. He did go to school all day Friday, but was very fatigued by the end of the day. He has continued to deal with various areas of swelling on his head (like the lump last week). He also had a swollen eye come up in a matter of hours yesterday. We suppose that this is one of those swollen areas that happens to be around his eye. His stomach pain improved over last week, but has come and gone this weekend again. He also complains of other pains and generally has not felt very good most of Saturday. This morning we phoned our doc in FW to discuss bringing Paul up for admit. Our doc seems pretty convinced that all these symptoms are not tumor related given the results of the scans 5 days ago. In the No Man's Land in which we live, we can only form theories. Our doc thinks we are dealing with some kind of inflammatory response either from the 3F8 itself or from drug action on tumor. We have not decided whether we'll go up for hospital admit today or not since it would probably result only in trying various pain or anti-inflammatory meds and then observation. We are going to try to treat Paul's symptoms with some meds we have here and see how things go. If we don't see improvement, we'll probably go up, and discuss doing additional scans at some point.

We never stopped needing your prayers so I know you will keep at it. God has delivered us many times, and I have faith that he will continue to respond to our prayers.

It is SO hard to stay positive when our kids feel yucky--even if we just had scans. It is so much easier to have hope when they are feeling good. This could just be some side effects of what he went through and it could change tomorrow. Hang in there.

We continue to pray for every cancer cell in Paul's body to be destroyed and for him to be whole and healthy. We're also praying for you, Mom and Dad, that God will continue to keep you strong, that you'll continue to feel His love and goodness daily.
