Figuring out the pain

I'm sitting next to Paul right now as he naps. He had a good night of sleep, but the drugs have made him throw up once or twice today, and he has dealt with some more pain that we think is neuropathic and caused by one of the chemo drugs (maybe Velcade). We tried a drug for this (neurontin) to see if it would help. The pain treatment is being figured out, and it may keep us here a bit longer than we wanted in order to see what he will need from Home Health. We don't want to leave before we get it figured out and risk getting home and him still being in pain.

One thing being discussed, although I don't want to get my hopes up too much, is us being able to give blood/platelets at home. This would make our world much better. Keeping our fingers crossed on that one.

From a cancer standpoint, I think we have seen some positive signs. For example, his face swelling is resolved. Bumps on his head are smaller. Another good sign is that he is moving his body around more indicating that he is hurting less. We still have 4 doses of Velcade to do (tomorrow and two next week), so if we are already seeing some effect, I am pleased.

We press on fighting the fight, and Paul needs your faithful prayers to do it.

The prayers are continuing. Chris W. and Judy C. prayed for Paul's healing during choir rehearsal last night--calling on God to remove all of the cancer cells from Paul's body and to restore him to full health. We are all praying for that daily and for God to sustain you as you go through this with Paul.
