Thanks for the Support!
Well, web-friends (this is Dudley), our Saxon gang has made it through another very difficult stretch including multiple hospital stays, procedures, and confusing infections. How are they doing? From my perspective, at times they are tired from the out-of-town treatments which keep them from enjoying time at home together. At this point in the journey, there are no easy options or pre-scripted protocols for treatment, so Terrill and Leigh have to process lots of medical jargon in order to make prayerful decisions on Paul's behalf. They ride the coaster of encouragement and disappointment along the way. Still, through it all they continue to express their confidence in the Lord and their thanks for the many people who have offered expressions of support. They are great examples of the fact that when God chooses not to end a difficult trial, He provides the courage to endure. They maintain hope for healing, and persistence in prayer. On a regular basis, their difficult trial helps to put my personal challenges into proper perspective - and they find the energy to care about the struggles of others. In all, I'd say that they are doing amazingly well. As the hymn states, "Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow..."
On the support front, some of you have blessed them lately with gift cards to H.E.B. (grocery store for those of you outside the zone) allowing them to get groceries or medications from the pharmacy, gift cards to the Genie Car Wash, and other restaurant cards. These are all so very helpful! Some of you have "donated" house cleaning services, or a willingness to take care of Jack and Whit when they need to be involved with Paul's care. I'm not sure how this path will turn next, but like those who attend a marathon, let's commit to stand on the side and cheer them on mile after mile. Our prayers, gifts, love and concern become the words of Christ to their hearts. That's what it means to BE the Body of Christ on earth. I'm blessed to be part of it with you on behalf of their family.
