And now, some levity
Given the serious tone of my earlier post, I thought some humor was in order. This will be funnier to those of you in the NB or cancer treatment world.
Top 10 Clues that Your Child has Been in Relapsed NB Treatment for a Long Time
1. You hear yourself saying, “I don’t care whether insurance covers it or not; get the darn drug!”
2. You’ve considered going to Brazil to buy a drug off the black market and administering it yourself.
3. You’ve thought about purchasing marijuana and teaching your 6-year-old to smoke it for medicinal purposes.
4. Your garage fridge is well-stocked with Vanc., TPN, Albumin, Neupagen, and Glucose.
5. To expedite your clinic appointment, you do “call ahead labs” and order a CBC, BBC, HO and renal panel and ask for a cortisol level.
6. You can eat your hospital lunch while your child throws up in the bucket your holding.
7. You have the script memorized to Nacho Libre, Peter Pan and Holes.
8. You walk around in your underwear in the hospital room, and when nurses come in neither they nor you notice or care.
9. “Supplements” now sound like a reasonable treatment alternative, and you bought some over the Internet.
10. Your child can flush and Hep-lock his or her own port.

You need to add this one in: Other parents call you to ask questions before they contact their doctors.(I almost consulted you as a 3rd opinion this week)
I hate to see y'all going through all of this as much as I hate going through it. And yet, hope never disappoints, does it? We're hoping right along with you and trusting in the character of God all the way.
Karen
We have no experience with NB, but did know we'd been at the hospital too long when we realized one of the cashiers in the cafeteria had started giving us an "employee discount".
Still praying,
Lori Baldridge
